Ramon Ejidio Herrara Chavez is one of the last remaining fisherman in the tiny village of Quidico on the southern coast of Chile. Over-exploitation of the sea by local fisherman throughout the last decade has forced many families to move elsewhere, following the fish up and down the coast. Ejidio, however, remains a staple in the dwindling community. Despite his poverty and opportunities for a better life in other villages, Ejidio stays because of his love for his hometown and his love for the sea, speaking to her like a woman and treating her with immense respect.
